Deals of Christmas: weeks five and six

I’m running extremely late with this week’s deals in the lead up to Christmas – it’s been that sort of week!

So I’m combining weeks five and six into one, giving you four in one go. The deals include some of the most popular items I make, so they are indeed very special.

These Christmas deals will end on Monday 20 December, so be quick!

Japanese etched pendant – leaves and flowers

Japanese etched pendant with leaves and flowers on red silk. This beautiful sterling silver pendant is one the most popular designs I create.

It has a Japanese leaves and flowers design etched into the surface. The recessed areas of the etch have been blackened, while the exposed silver has been given a slightly muted but still shiny finish.

The pendant is suspended on luscious deep red natural silk thread which is finished with handmade sterling silver clasp findings.

Three blossom earrings

Blossom earrings in sterling silver.Always one of my most popular designs, these simple, fun and eye-catching blossom earrings are handmade in sterling silver.

The little blossoms are each cut out by hand from silver sheet, so each one will be slightly different. They have been left with a brushed but bright and shiny finish.

Three blossoms per earring are suspended from handmade ear wires on delicate hammer-beaten pins.

Handmade sterling silver chain

Blossom earrings in sterling silver. This simple, striking and contemporary chain necklace made entirely by hand – which is why it is so special!

Most chains are now made in factories by machines, whereas handmade chains are very labour-intensive, with each individual link having been worked on carefully by the maker and left with its own character.

Each loop of silver is shaped from wire, cut, linked to other loops and then all of them are soldered closed. Finally each link is lovingly hammered to give it a beautiful hammer-beaten finish which catches the light. The whole chain is then tumbled for a number of hours to give it a bright and sparkly finish.

The chain can be worn in different ways and the simple handmade catch can clasp the chain at any point.

This is my own personal favourite piece of jewellery to wear!

Circles cufflinks

Blossom earrings in sterling silver. These contemporary and fun cufflinks are made entirely in sterling silver.

The silver which has been etched with a great ’60s-style circles pattern – sure to add life to a dull suit!

The recessed areas of the pattern have been blackened, while the surface of the pendant has a brushed but still shiny finish. The cufflinks have been tumbled to give the blackened areas a bright shine.

The cufflink backs are a swivel design in sterling silver.

The twelve deals of Christmas: week two!

This is week two of my Christmas deals – each week in the lead up to Christmas I’m going to be offering a special deal on two pieces of handmade jewellery in my range for one week only. This includes some of my most popular pieces.

I will post the deals on my blog every Monday until Christmas. You can also bookmark the ‘special deals’ pages in my Australian shop and international shop.

For week two the deals are:

Butterfly wing earrings

To create these eye-catching earrings, an intricate butterfly wing design has been cut out by hand in sterling silver.

The silver is given a brushed but shiny finish and the earrings are finished with handmade sterling silver ear wires.

One of my own favourite designs!

Sulphur crested cockatoo earrings

These cufflinks were inspired by the many lovely sulphur crested cockatoos I see around my home – birds with a lot of personality!

The silhouettes of two slightly different cockatoos have been cut out by hand in sterling silver which has been given a brushed satin finish.

The cockatoos are backed by hammer-beaten panels which are finished with sterling silver swivelling cufflink findings.

The twelve deals of Christmas – week one!

Each week in the lead up to Christmas I’m going to be offering a special deal on two pieces of handmade jewellery in my range – so twelve pieces in total.

Each piece will be discounted from its usual price, but for just one week only! This will include some of my most popular pieces.

I will post the deals of the week right here on my blog every Monday until Christmas. You can also bookmark the ‘special deals’ pages in my Australian shop and international shop and check back weekly.

So to kick off the very first week I’m offering special deals on the following pieces:

Butterfly wing pendant on chain with gold and gemstones

This is the deluxe version of my butterfly wing pendant – one of my most popular designs for the last few years.

The wing has been intricately cut out in sterling silver and is suspended from a delicate sterling silver chain.

Hanging next to the pendant is a small ring of 14ct gold with two faceted ametrine and one amethyst gemstone beads, all of which are suspended from 14ct gold pins.

Leaf and bud earrings

These earrings were inspired by a beautiful leaf I photographed at the lovely Mt Tomah Botanic Gardens not too far from my home.

Each leaf is cut out by hand in sterling silver which has been hammer beaten to give it an organic texture and shape. The pendant has a satin finish.

Suspended from a sterling silver headpin in front of each leave is a lovely hand cut pear-shaped faceted garnet which has a deep wine colour.

The leaves are finished with curvy handmade hook ear wires in sterling silver.

Running an indie business at Christmas can be a very frantic thing – especially as the day itself looms large and people remember (finally!) to go shopping!

An Easter treat!

It’s Easter – already! The year is whizzing past.

In Australia we are fortunate to get a four day holiday for Easter. Huge numbers of people go away for the weekend – and equally huge numbers stay at home to avoid the traffic created by the people going away!

I am one of the latter and plan to spend the weekend catching up with friends and making some jewellery – and of course nibbling the odd hot cross bun (better than chocolate!).

A treat for you!

For those others who will be around this weekend I’m offering an Easter treat in my handmade jewelry shop – if you make a purchase, just enter the code easter when you checkout and you’ll receive a 15% discount.

The discount is valid from Good Friday through to the end of Easter Monday and will work in my Australian jewellery shop as well.

Enjoy your Easter!

New sale items & a reader bonus

Forget-me-not necklace with red silk.I’ve just added some new handmade jewellery to my sale section, including this forget-me-not necklace. Plus I’ve further discounted some older pieces already on sale.

Everything in the sale section is being retired from my range – something I need to do from time to time to make the range more manageable. So once they’re gone, they’re gone!

As an added bonus for blog readers, if you purchase anything in my shop, use the code extra1 when you checkout to get a 15% discount – including on items already on sale. This discount will expire on 27 March 2009.

This is valid in both my Australian jewellery shop and international (US$) jewellery shop.

A sale!

Damask earrings. To help make room for my new Victorian-inspired jewellery range, I’ve created a sale section in my handmade jewellery shop.

A number of pieces have been discounted and I only have a limited quantity of these items on hand, so get in quick before they disappear!
